At ICL, our vision simply stated is:
International Church Leiden: worship - grow - serve
Mission:
To be a vibrant international community that is Christ centred and seeks to be open to all as we worship, grow and serve
We purpose to
Key Bible verses for us are:
Isaiah 61:3b: "a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendour" and also Matthew 22:37-40 and Ephesians 4:1-16 (why not look these up!)
Core values/culture:
Underpinning our culture as a community are the following core values:
REAL - seeking to be open and honest without the need to pretend or play religious games
FAMILY - a relational community of all ages drawn from many nations
SIMPLE - a style of church that is uncomplicated and relevant for 21st Century life
PASSION - hearts stirred to see others impacted by Christ
GRACE AND TRUTH - living in the good of this and expressing it to others
JOURNEY- exploring together what it means to follow Christ and be led by His Holy Spirit in us
A bit more on who we are....
ICL began in 2004 in the home of Tim and Marketa Southerland who were here serving as missionaries from the USA (Assemblies of God World Missions). Tim sensed as the first pastor that a key Bible phrase for the church was "a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendour" (Isaiah 61:3b). We continue to walk with this as a foundational Scripture for ICL's existence.
As an international church, the make up of our community has many different nationalities. We use English as a common language though all of our kids ministry and youth is bi-lingual with Dutch as the other language.
We are part of the local church in the Leiden area and desire to serve alongside others to see this area impacted by Jesus Christ. Partnering includes through the Leaders Prayer Network, Serve the City and HiP.
A heart for mission means a concern for our community but also for elsewhere in the Netherlands and in other countries, such as partnering with Convoy of Hope as well as other missionaries and projects we support.
We are a member of the VPE, a network of Pentecostal/Evangelical churches in the Netherlands. We are also a partner church in the Fellowship of European International Churches(www.feic.org) To see our statement of faith, which is in keeping with that of the VPE, click on We believe.
