Giving

"Every one should give what they have decided in their hearts to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver". (2 Corinthians 9:7)

At ICL, we are seeking to honour Jesus in every area of our lives. This includes the offering up of our time, skills and finances. We encourage individuals to pray about what they should give financially, but do not believe that anyone should feel pressured to give. Many of us use the principle found in the Bible of tithing (giving 10% of our income) as the starting point for financial giving in our lives. We also seek at ICL to give at least 10% of church income away every year into missions and outreach.

We also believe that the Bible gives a clear command for us all to consider how we can use the wealth and resources that we have, in order to help those who are poor, oppressed or facing injustice. Further we are called to be good stewards of this planet given into our care.

ICL is a member church of the VPE and as such has ANBI status through a block agreement that the VPE has with the Belastingsdienst. This means that giving is tax deductible - one of those unique benefits of being in the Netherlands!

As it is important to be accountable for the use of finances, our accounts are externally checked by Peter Guyt Administration Services based in Katwijk. An annual report is made to the church congregation and we are open throughout the year to questions about the church finances. An advisory board of people from ICL who are not elders, meet with Andy up to four times a year, to help in keeping the budget set by the eldership team under review.
